Mechanical Engineer

QComp Technologies is a robotic systems integrator in the Fox Valley that serves clients throughout the United States and Canada. Our company, which is based in Greenville, has approximately 30 employees and provides robotic packaging systems, material handling systems and automation line integration for clients in the flat glass, solar, consumer products, food, pharmaceutical, plastics, paper, and metals industries.

In an effort to support our continued growth of our Engineering Team, we have created an excellent opportunity for an individual to join the QComp team as a Mechanical Engineer.  

In this role, you will be exposed to a variety of industrial and peripheral equipment to be integrated into a functioning custom solution to meet our customers’ requirements. 

Job Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Efficient industrial equipment design, drafting and procurement to ensure our robot based automated solutions perform to our customers’ standards:  including but not limited to EOAT, conveyors, complex machines, stands, pneumatics/vacuum, hydraulics, and safety components 
  • Trouble-shooting complex applications and technical problems with our talented team of engineers and technicians to develop the most cost-effective and complete solution
  • Participating in regular project meetings to ensure projects are on time and progressing as planned, and be involved in project from the conceptual phase to Factory Acceptance Test
  • Representing QComp in customer meetings to provide technical advice and creative solutions to exceed our customers’ expectations
  • Creating and cataloging sales and engineering drawings, spare parts lists and other engineering documents in Excel, Access, Adobe, Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD 
  • Understanding customer requirements and being able to assist them with breaking them down into solutions, while understanding project scope, time, risk, quality, and cost
  • Applying engineering principles such as mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, and fluid dynamics

Qualifications & Experience you bring:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering / 2-year certificate in Mechanical Design or equivalent 
  • Deep desire to be an efficient machine designer
  • 2+ years of experience designing automation equipment (with 4-year degree)/ 4+ years of experience (with 2-year certificate)
  • Proficiency working in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD– required
  • Proficiency working in Autodesk Vault -preferred
  • Experience assisting Sales in developing proposals, estimating and creating Sales drawings – a plus
  • Experience with ABB, Fanuc and Staubli robots – a plus
  • Ability to problem solve and analyze complex problems and identify solutions

Electrical Assembler

  • Reading electrical schematics
  • Working efficiently with the Electrical Assembly teammates
  • Building electrical control panels by mounting and wiring various components
  • Assisting with the design process by red lining drawings when modifications are required
  • Performing machine wiring to get systems staged so that Engineering can test
  • Preparing systems for power up
  • Performing point to point wiring quality checks to meet customer quality standards

Qualifications & Experience You Bring…

  • High School Diploma, GED or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED)
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Show attention to detail to meet customer standards
  • Ability to follow instructions to complete assignments
  • Previous experience with electrical assembly a plus
  • Working knowledge of common hand and power tools and experience with manual vertical milling machine, lathe, drill press and welding preferred

Installation Technician

Our company, which is based in Greenville, has approximately 35 employees and provides robotic packaging systems, material handling systems and automation line integration for clients in the flat glass, solar, consumer products, food, pharmaceutical, plastics, paper, and metals industries.

In an effort to support our continued growth, we have created an excellent opportunity for an individual to join the QComp team as an Installation Technician. 

In this role, you will be involved with the mechanical assembly and wiring of customer robotic machinery and industrial control panels, control stations and related components in the shop and at the end customer facility. 

You can contribute and have an impact by…

  • Performing mechanical and eletrical assembly in the shop and in the field
  • Preparing systems for power up; basic I/O checks, verifying pneumatic and mechanical completion of the system
  • Performing quality checks to meet industry standards
  • Following the robotics system from QComp’s shop to the customer site to supervise proper alignment and installation
  • Interfacing with our Engineers to provide a smooth handoff at installation
  • Working closely with and communicating with all the talent that makes up the QComp team
  • Ensure that design changes are documented and implemented
  • Provide support for inhouse research and development projects

Qualifications & Experience you bring…

  • High School Diploma, GED or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED)
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Show attention to detail to meet industry standards
  • Ability to follow instructions to complete assignments
  • Previous experience with mechanical or electrical assembly is required
  • Working knowledge of common hand and power tools and experience with manual vertical milling machine, lathe, drill press and welding preferred
  • Willingness to travel 15-40% of the time is required

Sales & Service Account Manager

To support the continued growth of our engineering team, we have created a Sales and Service Account Manager opportunity.

In this role, you will be exposed to a variety of industrial and peripheral equipment to be integrated into a functioning custom solution that meets our customers’ requirements.

You can contribute and have an impact by:

  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients to understand their spare parts needs, and proactively contact customers regarding parts/service potential.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for clients regarding spare parts inquiries (including emergency concerns), orders, and issue resolution.
  • Developing an understanding of the technical specifications of spare parts.
  • Providing technical support to clients regarding spare parts compatibility and usage.
  • Generating reports on spare parts sales, and other relevant metrics for all projects including communicating with customers on timing of orders.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for clients regarding service inquiries, including emergency concerns (line down), and issue resolution from start to finish.
  • Communicating with Regional Sales Representatives and clients directly to gather necessary information for accurate quoting.
  • Provide clarification on pricing details and address any inquiries or concerns regarding the quotes.
  • Communicating internally timing and expectations of work to be done to both Project Engineers and the shop.
  • Generating reports on service sales and other relevant metrics.

Qualifications & Experience you bring:

  • Understand drawings and BOMs.
  • Organizational, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
  • 2-year degree in business management, marketing, engineering, project management or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience growing parts and service programs preferred.
  • Previous experience with pricing, margin management, T&M hours recording for billing.
  • Knowledge of supplier management.
  • Vision, initiative and technology knowledge with the ability to structure and drive service offerings in partnership with the Sales Team and Marketing.
